BREVARD COUNTY DOG PARKS

The Brevard County Parks and Recreation operate the following dog parks, and admission fees (shown below) are charged. You must provide written documentation that your dog has all of its shots and a Brevard County dog license. There no longer are attendants at the county-operated dog parks - see BARC note below.

Palm Bay Regional Park - 1951 NW Malabar Road, Palm Bay. This dog park opened on 5/1/07. To get there take Malabar Road going West. It is about 6 miles West of Interstate 95. When you enter the park follow the main road and watch for the dog park sign. The dog park is in the back of the park. For more information, call the South Area Parks and Recreation Office at 255-4400.
Temporarily, only the small dog area is open and small and large dogs will alternate using it. The following schedule will apply:
Saturday: Small Dogs - 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Large Dogs - 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday: Small Dogs - 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Large Dogs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Monday - Friday: Small Dogs - 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. & 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Large Dogs - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wickham Park -- 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne. To get there take Wickham or US 1 to Parkway Drive and go to the entrance of the park. When you enter the park, turn right and follow the road around until you see a black chain link fence on the right-hand side.

CITY DOG PARK

Satellite Beach - 750 Jamaica Boulevard. To get there take A1A or South Patrick Drive South to DeSoto. From A1A go West and from South Patrick go East to the four way stop sign at Jamaica Drive. Watch for the library and dog park signs. Go South on Jamaica until you see the library building. Turn right. The dog park is down at the end of the road next to the skate park.
This park is operated by the City of Satellite Beach. You must provide written documentation that your dog has all of its shots and a Brevard County dog license. Satellite Beach dog park will have new hours of operation effective 9/1/07:
Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. & 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.


ADMISSION FEES

The following admissions fees apply at all of the dog parks in Brevard County:
Daily Entrance Fees - $2 for up to two people with up to three dogs, and $3 for more than two people or more than three dogs.
Annual Membership Fee - $150 Single; $200 Family. Reduced $50 if all dog(s) are spayed or neutered.
NOTE: The annual membership fee runs for 1 year from the date of purchase. The annual membership fee paid at Wickham Park, Lori Wilson Park and Palm Bay Regional Park can be used to enter any of those three county dog parks. The annual membership fee paid at Satellite Beach Dog Park can only be used for admission at that park.

BARC asked their members to write to their legislators and to the county commissioners to encourage them to keep our dog parks open after the budget cuts necessitated by property tax reductions. BARC is very happy to report that many of you did take the time to write an Email or letter. According to the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department, dog park users wrote more letters than any other parks special interest group. The letters did receive the attention of the county commissioners and did help because they have decided to keep the dog parks open! As a result of your help, effective 10/1/07 when the new fiscal year starts, the county is going to leave the dog parks open without attendants. They still want to charge fees and we are still waiting to hear how they will handle that. Thank you to those of you who did contact our legislators and commissioners! BARC saved the dog parks!
